Trip to South New Jersey

My grandfather came down this week (he came on Wednesday and is leaving Tuesday), but from Friday evening to this evening my mother, grandfather and I went down to south New Jersey to explore some places like Cape May and some of the other lighthouses and wildlife. I took a few pictures, but they weren’t good and most were with my phone since my camera batteries died and the replacements I brought were also dead which didn’t help. My mom took a lot of pictures though with her fancy camera (mine isn’t quite as fancy, but it certainly works). It was fun to explore some unique sites and get out of the house and spend time with family so I’m happy I went.

Discovering the Area

Over the past few weeks I’ve been meeting with my mobility specialist at the CNIB once i a while in order to find new places that I may want to go. Places like the super market and mall, but also interesting places that are along the way or around. I had her help first year to learn my way around campus and also to learn where the bank was and other such things, but after that I kind of fell out of doing it. Now I’m learning about all sorts of fun places.  It started with me needing to find my way to the CNIB building for something, and just went from there  It’s always good to have someone help you find places and find the place you’re thinking about. Sometimes the hardest thing about Google Maps is that if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for or what it might be called it’s harder to find, and if you don’t know it’s there (like she told me about a really neat cafe that I would never have known about had I not been told) there is no reason to find out. It’s pretty fun and I have to do it more especially since I plan on living here.

The problem with ID pictures

You know, one thing that always confused me as a child was how people could tell what people looked like on ID cards. I understood that the picture was supposed to show the person, but since I couldn’t really see details on people’s faces I struggled to understand how they could tell if the person changed the colour of their hair or cut their hair or something of the sort. Now I understand it, but back then I just couldn’t figure out how it could possibly make sense. Good thing I never had to recognize someone by their picture.
